A 22-year-old has been arrested in connection with an assault in which a man was stabbed in the back.

As part of their investigation into the stabbing, police in Preston arrested the man as suspicion of assault (GBH).

The incident took place at around 3.30pm on Saturday when a man in his 20s was assaulted by several other males on Grafton Street, close to Fishergate Hill.

During the attack he was stabbed to his lower back.

He was taken to hospital by air ambulance and thankfully he is now making a good recovery.

Police believe the incident was a targeted attack and the parties involved were all known to each other.

The 22-year-old man from Preston remains in custody.

DI George Binns, of Preston Police, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are very much ongoing and today we have made an arrest.

“We are continuing to appeal for information and would ask anybody who saw the incident, or captured any part of it on mobile phone footage, to get in touch with us straight away.”
