PARAMEDICS in Lancashire had one of their busiest New Year's Eve nights on record.
Ambulance crews attended almost 1,000 calls across the county, with 546 received in the peak time from 11pm New Year's Eve to 5am today.
Bob Williams, Deputy Chief Executive at North West Ambulance Service, said: "New Year's Eve is always one of our busiest nights and this year is no exception.
"However, we anticipated this surge in demand and managed it appropriately by increasing resources.
"All our staff worked hard both in control rooms managing emergency calls and deploying vehicles and on frontline vehicles, tending to patients.
"It is their dedication and commitment that enables us to continue to deliver excellent service to the people of Lancashire - a fact that I am sure the general public will recognise."
Incidents included accidents resulting from alcohol consumption and accidental injuries.
A spokesman for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue service said fire-fighters had experienced a "normal night", with no increase in calls.
