Burnley police taskforce made eight arrests and seized numerous vehicles and class A and B drugs over the past month.

The neighbourhood policing team have executed drugs warrants and arrested a number of people whilst listening to the public about their concerns through May.

Class A and class B drugs were seized from an address on Halifax Road while a substantial amount of cannabis was seized from an address on Marsden Road.

Vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner or with no insurance were also seized by the force in the past month.

Sgt Vic Bramley said: “We executed a drugs warrant in the Halifax Road area where we seized both Class A and B drugs. Two people were arrested.

“Using community intelligence, we executed a warrant on Marsden Road where a substantial amount of cannabis was seized. One person was arrested.

“We listened to community concerns about motorists in the Colne Road area and have seized numerous vehicles this month being used in an anti-social manner and having no insurance.

“We have been targeting the Daneshouse area after concerns were raised about drug dealing. Officers from the Taskforce stop checked a vehicle which uncovered a large amount of drugs. Four males were arrested and a further vehicle seized.

“We executed a drugs warrant on Briercliffe Road where we arrested a further male and seized equipment used in the production of drugs.

“We got a conviction at court for possession with intent to supply Class A where a three year custodial sentence was given.

“We had just enough time to attend a community fun day off Barden Lane to help raise money for local charities.

“We will continue to listen to the public and drive our targeted activity around what really matters most to our communities.”
