A man was arrested after police found LSD and weed in his car.

On Friday evening rural police officers stopped the vehicle, pictured, after suspecting something was amiss.

Upon searching the car, they found what they believed to be LSD and cannabis.

A man was subsequently arrested but was released under investigation while the suspected drugs are tested.

A spokesperson for the police said: "While patrolling West Lancs Rurals last night, South Rural Task Force had cause to stop and search a vehicle.

"Inside, officers found what we believe to be LSD and cannabis.

"A male from Walmer Bridge was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

"The male has been released under investigation pending the seized items being tested."
