UPDATED 6.05PM: The A19 has now re-opened both ways and traffic has returned to normal.
A MAIN road in to York is blocked both ways after an accident.
A two vehicle accident has blocked the A19 at Riccall between York and Selby.
There is currently queueing traffic due to a crash between York Road, Riccall and the Stillingfleet turn-off at Escrick.
It's affecting traffic between York and Selby and drivers are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called to the scene at 2.22pm.
A service spokesman said: "A crew from Selby attended a two vehicle road traffic collision. Nobody was trapped or injuried. Crews carried out scene safety and isolated the battery on one of the vehicles."
