This photograph from 1967 shows the old and the new faces of Blackburn all together.

It shows the demolition work which was underway around the Moss Street area as many of the old, traditional terraces were being torn down.

In the background you can see the outline of several tower blocks and modern housing developments which were seen to be the answers to the town’s housing issues.

Ironically within 30 years, many of those tower blocks would themselves be pulled down as they too were deemed outdated and no longer fit for purpose.
