IT may have been a cold December day in 1991 when Princess Margaret came to Blackburn but the warmth of the welcome she received from the crowds gathered at Holroyd House more than made up for that.
The princess was in town to officially open the NSPCC’s East Lancashire base and new child care centre.
A large crowd had started to gather several house before she was due to arrive with staunch royalists eager to get the best vantage point to see one of the most glamorous members of the royal family.
And she didn’t disappoint embarking on a mini-walkabout and having a word with many of them before she performed her official duties and declared Holroyd House open.
