CUMBRIA software firm Citrus Lime are planning an expansion.

The Ulverston-based cloud company plan to take on additional staff to their 50-strong team after a period of exceptional growth.

In the last 12-months, the company has processed £473 million worth of client orders and CEO Neil McQuillan says the firm plans to create new jobs to help grow the business even further.

Mr McQuillan said: “The pandemic has been really tough personally for a lot of us, yet we have seen a shift in the way people are using their purchase power as the world has changed so dramatically.

“We’ve been here in Ulverston since 2016 and we have no plans to move. We’ve got exciting jobs growth on the horizon and those jobs will be based here in the local area.

“As a software company, it’s obviously tempting to move our head office to somewhere like Manchester, but that would go against our ethos.

“We’ve got a great team and culture in Ulverston and that’s what we plan to build on in the near future with our new software opportunities.”

Citrus Lime are one of the industry leaders in cloud-based retail software bike and outdoor businesses, competing with global companies such as Shopify.

Mr McQuillan said: "We want to keep local outdoor companies in business. Since the pandemic, it's been important for us to help independent businesses compete with the likes of larger online stores."
