UPDATE: The M6 Northbound, J31 is now reopen.
A four car crash on the M6 has seen traffic come to a standstill.
Traffic is slow on the M6 northbound at junction 31 this morning (May 13) because of the accident.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 6.30am, with the fire service cutting one person out of their vehicle.
A spokesperson for the police said: "One man has suffered a head injury but was conscious and breathing at the scene.
"No arrests have been made."
On social media, another spokesperson for the police said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a collision on the M6 Northbound, J31.
"Please avoid the area where possible to assist emergency vehicles attending.
"We are implementing road closures that will be in place for some time. Thank you for your patience."
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Three fire engines from Preston and Bamber Bridge were called to a road traffic collision on the M6 northbound between junction 30 and 31.
"The incident involved multiple vehicles and firefighters used cutting equipment and worked with paramedics to release one casualty from a vehicle."
