A BOROUGH has shaken up its coronavirus testing regime as the number of residents visiting it sites has decreased.

Burnley Council has conducted a review of its community lateral flow rapid Covid testing sites.

From this week it has introduced changes as a result.

Testing is no longer being provided from the Gannow Community Centre or Barden Boys' and Girls' Club centres but the sites will still supply home testing kits for anyone to access.

Testing using lateral flow devices remains available from the Central Methodist Church (behind Burnley Town Hall) three days a week.

It is open on Mondays from 9am to noon; on Wednesdays from 9am to 4pm; and on Saturdays from 9am to noon.

A Burnley Council spokesman said: "The review follows a reduction in the number of visits to the testing centres, reflecting the wider rollout of home testing and accessibility of DIY testing kits.

"Everyone still needs to continue to be tested and to follow the current guidelines to protect themselves and others."
