CIRCUS organisers have said they cannot wait to return to Kendal with an even bigger and better show.

Gandeys Circus recently announced it would be returning to the town for the second time from June 16 to 20 and will once again be located on the grounds of Kendal Rugby Club.

The show first came to Kendal in 2019 after someone suggested the tour include the Lake District.

“We were welcomed so warmly when we were there last year that it wasn’t even a consideration to not come back with a new show,” said Binky Beaumont, tour director at Exchange Events Ltd.

“Kendal was such a highlight, it’s probably the prettiest town in the country and our artists they go to some beautiful towns and cities, but they are so excited to return to Kendal.”

This year’s show promises the return of motorbikes and the globe of death, trapeze artists, whole cast numbers, the high wire and much more.

“It’s a brand-new show every year,” said Mr Beaumont.

The circus has also decided to support the Great North Air Ambulance again this year.

“It’s a great local charity,” said Mr Beaumont.

“We took the decision a few years ago to raise money for a local charity at every venue.”

Productions will see audience numbers halved to comply with Covid-19 safety regulations.

And, according to Mr Beaumont, Gandeys played a part in helping form safety guidance.

“We will have all the Covid safety measures in place which include a reduced capacity to less than 400,” said Mr Beaumont.

“We normally seat over a thousand.

“We were delighted to work with the UK government to put in all the new rules and regulations that are going to be used by theatres, leisure and by events and circuses.

“We’ve actually helped put the information together including the air flow and pilot schemes.

“All our Covid information is on our website as well as our Good to Go government tick.”
