A FAMILY coffee business has unveiled a range of new products available on a subscription service.

Mini & Mighty, in Oswaldtwistle, was founded by Mark Shea, who had built up many years of experience working in the coffee trade, alongside wife Joanna.

Now they have launched vegan and organic ranges along with new teas and wearable merchandise that are available to customers on subscription as well as a tea subscription service and a roast to order service.

Mr Shea, whose previous employers include Tchibo Coffee and Coffee 1652, said: “This is a new thing for us. It’s roasted on site, so we can roast to order.

“We’ve got an oat-based range, organic ranges, free from caffeine, free from sugar, so it's all about helping people find what they really want.”

Turning to the origins of the firm’s subscription model, he added: “It started off with a regular coffee club which we started but found we didn’t quite have as many people joining as we hoped.

“But the subscriptions make it as easy for people to find what they want as possible.”

Mr and Mrs Shea run their business from their home on Fernlea Avenue, Oswaldwistle, where they live with daughters Anabel and Maia, having originally started in Helmshore.

As well as individual customers they supply wholesalers all over the North West.

The business also supplies cafes, pubs and bars with Mr Shea using his many years of expertise to help instruct owners and managers on how to use coffee-making equipment and how to get the very best out of the coffee blends supplied by Mini & Mighty.

The new ranges all keep to the family company’s ethos of ensuring all products are as ethically sourced as possible, having been accredited by the Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade and the Soil Association.

Mr Shea said: “The nice thing we’ve done is we’ve not overcharged for it.

“We’ve said, look it doesn’t cost that much to produce, so it's within range of every other coffee we’ve produced.”

He added: “It’s also about as ethical as anything we’ve ever produced.”

The firm has started a series of Your Brew videos, which help customers hone their own coffee brewing skills.

Mr Shea said: “There’s now videos for espressos, machines, cafetiere, everything’s on there.”
