A MINI which had been reported stolen three days ago was sighted by officers.
The driver of the vehicle then made a bid to escape from police, which included members of the dog unit.
He abandoned the car and tried and failed to run away from police.
A spokesman said: “This Mini was stolen on the 6th. It was sighted today in Burnley and made off from #LancPolDogUnit and abandoned. Dog and handler located the driver a short distance away. Car recovered to a grateful owner #T2TacOps.”
