A former Blackburn high school student has made it big on social media after his Instagram filter surpassed one billion views.

Oliver Jai from Clitheroe created the filter, Type1.0, and uploaded it to the social media platform in September last year.

And in little over eight months he has managed to amass more than one billion views of the filter, and has even attracted some celebrity fans.

The former QEGS student, who is a travel influencer and now lives in Manchester, began exploring photography and videography at the tender age of 13 while studying at the Blackburn high school.

Now 23, Oliver, who used to work as a sales assistant and has more than 20k followers on Instagram, carried his teenage passion over into his work life and has been lucky enough to work as a full-time photographer and travel influencer.

His job involves travelling the world producing content for a variety of global brands, including Disney, Etihad Airways, Red Bull, Yelir World, Boosted Board, Glamify and artists such as The Chainsmokers, Sigala, Hannah Wants and Endor.

Talking about his filter, Oliver said: "I wanted to create a modern design to document my adventures as soon as international travel is allowed again.

"I had a few friends who used the filter and it snowballed from there.

"It has now gained over 1.2billion views in just a few months."

Oliver created the filter in his bedroom during lockdown, and his design has now attracted usage from the likes of Olympic-medallist diver Tom Daly, rapper and YouTuber DGG, Love Islanders Marcel Somerville, Luke Mabbott and Ross Worswick, and Christine Quinn, star of Netflix’s Selling Sunset.

Oliver added: "I plan on bringing another filter to the Instagram platform very soon.

"I also can’t wait to get back on the road and to continue share my photography with the world."
