A BOROUGH is to launch a five-week '5 Ways to Wellbeing' campaign launching on Monday, May 17.

The new Blackburn with Darwen Council drive, which starts on May 17, will use them to promote local services and activities designed to make people feel good and function well.

The campaign will run until Sunday, June 20 with each week focussing on one of the five ways.

Week One will be called 'Take Notice'; week two 'Keep Learning'; week three 'Be Active'; week four 'Help Others' and week five from June 14 to 20 'Connect'.

A timetable of related activities happening across the borough each week will be available online.

They will include mindfulness, meditation, arts and crafts, first aid, stress busting, dementia awareness, training, reading support, community history, IT, cycling, toddler trails, coping with change, and sports.

Professor Dominic Harrison, the borough's public health director, said: "This campaign and its programme of activities are designed to encourage people to take up something new, or do more of something they already do, because it feels good and it has a positive effect on their mood.

"We all need a bit of that at the moment. Covid has been really tough and it has stopped us from doing lots of things we enjoy and would normally do."

The campaign will be visible on social media and searchable on Twitter using: #5waysbwd.
