A TRIAL date has been set for a man who denies sexual assault on another male.

Mohammed Shafaque entered a not-guilty plea to one count of sexual assault on the man through an interpreter at Burnley Crown Court on Tuesday morning.

The court heard how Shafaque, of Crawford Street, Nelson, was charged following an incident in August of 2020.

The 54-year-old will now stand trial in 2022.

Addressing him, Judge Sara Dodd said: “You trial will take place on the 20th of June of next year. You must come back on that date to this court.

“If you are not here without very good reason, that will be a separate offence contrary to the bail act and you may go to prison. If you are not here, your barrister may not be able to continue to represent you."
