A BLACKBURN pub has closed its doors today for 'customer safety' after a violent incident on Sunday.

Bosses at the Old Toll Bar, in Accrington Road, Intack, said that they have introduced new rules in light of the incident.

The rules, which will be in place when the pub re-opens on Tuesday, will see an earlier last orders time, drinks being served in plastic cups and security staff being drafted in for the weekend.

A spokesperson for the pub said: "Due to yesterday’s incident we will not be opening today.

"Customer safety is our number one priority and we will not tolerate and violence or any threatening behaviour so as from tomorrow these new rules come into place.

"Last orders will be at 9pm.

"All drinks will be served in plastic glasses from 4pm onwards (includes bottled beers).

"Security staff will be present weekends.

"And finally anyone who uses threatening or intimidating behaviour because will be barred for six months.

"And anyone who uses violence or comes close to it will be barred for life and reported to the police.

"Sorry to everyone who this will affect but we need to keep everyone safe. Hope you all enjoy you’re bank holiday weekend."

The pub and police have been contacted for comment.
