TWO EAST Lancashire companies have come together to help other firms control their energy use and prevent waste.

Burnley-based Ultimate Visual Solutions (UVS) and Nelson-based Businesswise Solutions have been using advanced video wall technology to help clients monitor their energy use by keeping track of alerts created when energy consumption is unusually high or low, which could be an early indicator of a potential fault on site.

The technology was developed by UVS, with Businesswise helping to bring it to new customers across the county and beyond.

Businesswise Solutions head of energy management Andrew Bardsley said: “Our clients expect us to be on top of their energy consumption, if something has gone wrong, or is about to, we have the ability to alert them to it so they can find and fix the problem before it causes disruption.

“The video wall solution is key component of us being able to identify, visualise and optimise the way our clients see energy within their business.

“The energy analysts that are using the platform benefit from the ‘always on’ display, which helps to free up some valuable screen space whilst still being able to keep track of the alerts being generated by our system.”

The company says that the video wall design allows companies to view multiple web pages, data from remote workstations, data from wirelessly connected workstations and laptops, RSS feeds, message boxes and live TV feeds.

All of this is used to monitor energy use.

Businesswise Solutions chief marketing officer, Paul Scarborough, who managed the project, said: "We had an idea of what we wanted, and when we saw the demo suite at UVS HQ we knew immediately that they would end up being our preferred partner.

"Not only were they local to us, which mattered to us as a business, but they had a product that ticked all the boxes when it comes to functionality. The guys at UVS were really accommodating in terms of bringing our vision to life and we're really happy with the end result."

UVS meanwhile says that the layout remains simply enough for those using the walls to easily keep track of the information.

UVS Managing Director Steve Murphy said: “We are delighted to be working with Businesswise Solutions and to have provided a cost-effective video wall solution with all the required functionality and flexibility to allow Businesswise to showcase their solutions.

“The planning, installation and implementation of the system was successfully carried out during the pandemic period, with UVS and Businesswise working strictly to all government and health and safety regulations and guidelines.”

Energy management company Businesswise Solutions is helping industrial and commercial companies to control energy consumption, eliminate energy waste and prevent disruption with the help of video wall technology supplied by Ultimate Visual Solutions (UVS).

A new video wall at the firm’s headquarters, The Energy Centre, enables energy analysts to view multiple data feeds relating to clients’ energy and keep track of alerts created when energy consumption is unusually high or low, which could be an early indicator of a potential fault on site.

UVS, based in the Burnley First – Burnley Business Centre, was asked to provide a number of functions, including the simultaneous display of:

• Multiple web pages

• Data from remote workstations

• Data from wirelessly connected workstations/laptops

• RSS feeds

• Dynamic message boxes

• Live TV feeds

The control of the video wall content also needed to be extremely simple, with templates available to create multiple pre-set layouts which could be instantly recalled suiting specific visitors or incident scenarios.

Businesswise Solutions, based at Lomeshaye Industrial Estate, Nelson, is part of the Inspired Energy PLC group. It uses in-house developed energy software solutions combined with expert advice to take control of clients’ energy and provide businesses with complete visibility of costs and consumption, to identify and eliminate waste.

Andrew Bardsley, Head of Energy Management at Businesswise Solutions, said: “Our clients expect us to be on top of their energy consumption, if something has gone wrong, or is about to, we have the ability to alert them to it so they can find and fix the problem before it causes disruption.

After a consultation and live demonstration of the required functionality at UVS’s HQ, UVS installed a 2x2 video wall using Philips 49-inch 24/7 industrial displays, with only 3.5mm combined bezel to bezel measurement.

The system utilises a UVS WBC10 video wall controller, with 2xHDMI inputs added, providing the required control functionality and features.

UVS provides video wall displays and audio visual solutions to a range of clients across the UK and the rest of the world.

It is led by four senior colleagues who, between them, have more than 70 years’ combined Audio Visual, Control Room and Visual Solutions experience.
