A LOGISTICS company will be helping to fund a drive to plant half a million trees across Lancashire

This comes as Chorley-based TVS Supply Chain Services partners with the Ribble Rivers Trust on a project known as Lancashire Woodland Connect.

The campaign aims to plant 500,000 trees in the county over the next decade.

Comapany CEO Andrew Jones said: “TVS SCS were pleased to be supporting Ribble Rivers Trust by planting trees at Crow Wood in Burnley as part of the Trust’s initiative in woodland creation to tackle carbon emissions and support a healthier environment.

"CEO Jack Spees and the Trust’s Volunteer Supervisor Rob Cooper were joined by myself and a number of TVS SCS colleagues on the day.

"We were pleased to be supporting this initiative as part of our drive towards a carbon neutral footprint by 2025”

TVS staff from their Chorley office proved their commitment to the scheme when they joined trust members for a day of tree planting at a site in Burnley.

In just one day they planted over 600 trees.

The Ribble Rivers Trust meanwhile says that the wider Lancashire Woodland Connect is their most ambitious campaign to date.

The ten-year campaign will double the area of woodland in Lancashire by planting more than half a million trees.

The work, carried out by Ribble Rivers Trust and delivery partners Lune Rivers Trust and Wyre Rivers Trust, will help to reduce flood risk, improve air quality, and remove 100,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Ribble Rivers Trust CEO Jack Spees said: “This support is exactly what we are driving for, local businesses addressing Climate Change locally, that do much more than sequester carbon.

"This site will be a huge asset for local people to walk through and enjoy, but it will also help to improve water quality and reduce downstream flood risk.

"We really hope that this will inspire other companies to work with us to improve the environment of Lancashire.”
