A Blackburn charity and a school have joined forces to deliver food parcels to families, who may be facing financial challenges during Government Covid restrictions.

The IMO Charity have kindly funded 50 food parcels to families of students from Blackburn Central High School (BCHS).

In addition to these 50 boxes sent to all regardless of their faith, staff who are currently fasting have donated and put together additional parcels, along with help from the Morrison's Great Harwood.

Headteacher, Shanaz Hussain said: "It is so important that all of our school family come together to celebrate Eid and Christmas. It is something that we are so proud of, in our richly diverse school.

“When fasting, during Ramadan, our thoughts turn to those less fortunate and for ways to help those in that situation.

“It also embodies our own school culture of charity, compassion and understanding, which is firmly embedded in our psyche across staff students, parents, and governors.

“I would like to send heartfelt wishes to everyone during this spiritual period, and of behalf of all of our school community, I would like to send blessings of peace and happiness."

Stephen Jones CEO at IMO Charity said “We are pleased that we have formed an excellent partnership with Blackburn Central High School, during the pandemic we supported young people at the school with digital devices and now with food parcels.

“IMO hopes the boxes provided brings a smile on the recipients house holds”.
