A COUNCIL is selling the freeholds of homes on a new housing estate to residents.
Burnley Borough held on to them when developer Gleeson Homes purchased the land for its Holbeck Park scheme.
But the residents buying the new properties need to own the freeholds to access cash from the government's 'help to buy' scheme.
Burnley Council's executive this week authorised ' the sale of freehold interest in completed houses on the development at Holbeck Park and on other similar developments
elsewhere'.
Its finance boss Cllr Sue Graham said: "This will enable new home buyers to access Government 'help to buy' when purchasing new homes."
