A SPECIAL 'post-lockdown' version of family festival Geronimo is coming to Heaton Park this summer.
The event is scheduled to take place over the weekend of June 26 and 27 - a week after the government is proposing to remove all restrictions on social contact.
Promising to be a "fun packed family festival", the event will feature stage shows, arena demonstrations, live music on the main stage, craft marquees, donkey rides, camel racing, monster truck shows, a funfair and 'the world's biggest bouncy castle'.
A 20,000-litre mermaid tank featuring displays throughout the day is expected to be a highlight of the event, along with the monster truck arena, two full circuses, jousting knights, a Wild West re-enactment arena and a high wire walker performing without a safety net.
DJs, including Craig Charles, Bez from the Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets' Clint Boon will provide the music alongside live acts The Rockin Rhinos and Johnny and the Raindrops with Big Fish Little Fish hosting their famous all ages raves.
Happening ahead of the main Geronimo festival at Arley Hall in Cheshire this August, there'll be three showground arenas, with timetabled events throughout both days.
Tickets, costing £15 each or £55 for a family of four, include entry as well activities and attractions, with the exception of funfair rides. Carers and under threes go free.
Adults will be asked to show either proof they've had the Covid vaccine, or proof of a negative Covid test before entry.
Organiser Simon Goldman said: "We know just how important it is for families to be able to budget and to have as much fun as possible for your ticket price. So, to make budgeting even easier, apart from the funfair attractions and inflatables everything is included in your entrance cost.
"We have tried to price the day ticket so it is affordable to all families, we anticipate demand will be very high so please book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
"After the year we have all had we certainly think the kids deserve a treat and some real family fun."
Tickets are already on sale and can be booked online.
Heaton Park, near Bury, is served by two tram stops - Heaton Park and Bowker Vale - and organisers are hoping to get as many people as possible to travel by Metrolink.
