MOUNTAIN rescue volunteers have attended their first organised event in over a year.
This came as members of the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team provided first aid cover for Rossendale Valley Riding Club on Sunday April 18.
While attending the event, the team came very close to being summoned to what would have been their 41st deployment of the year when they received a call from paramedics requesting assistance with an injured quad biker in Rochdale.
However, on making further contact with the North West Ambulance Service, volunteers discovered that the situation was in hand and they were no longer needed.
The mountain rescue team has however pledged to continue offering a 24/7 emergency service for all 365 days of the year.
In order to do so, the volunteers depend on donations from the public which can be made here: https://justgiving.com/RPMRT.
