A PROJECT to tackle food poverty in Blackburn with Darwen during the holidays raised more than £10k.

Blackburn Youth Zone with support from the local community took on a massive challenge to support just over 4,000 people through their Zone to Home campaign.

500 food parcels were delivered in the community and they contained a meal for a family of 4 and a recipe card which was created by well-known celebrity chef Nigel Haworth.

Mel Thomas from Blackburn Youth Zone said: "We are overwhelmed by the support from the local community and the Blackburn Youth Zone Patron network. Together as a community we can support and reach young people and families when they need us the most."

Graham and Brown, Napthens Solicitors, Totally Wicked, Crown Paints, Vape Dinner Lady, Pets Choice, Fagan & Whalley, Sagar Insurance, Pets Choice, Cardboard Box Company, Wellocks and Nigel Haworth all supported and volunteered their time to support BYZ members and their families.’
