A NEW swim school is opening up in Bolton this week offering engaging lessons with a focus on smaller class sizes.

Bolton Swim School are launching at Canon Slade High School this Saturday, with classes from those aged two all the way through to the teenage years.

The school is being run by Charlotte Wilcock and Harry Johnstone, who already operated the popular TJ Dolphins in Wigan, set up 25 years ago by Harry's parents.

Charlotte said: “My business partner Harry is from Horwich originally. We took over TJ Dolphins last summer.

“It’s been very successful and there’s a long waiting list, so we thought we could expand elsewhere and obviously we know the area pretty well.

“We did our research into different pools available, and we were really impressed with Canon Slade High School; it has a beautiful pool and brilliant changing rooms which have been redecorated.

“Our teaching technique is rather different to what is offered elsewhere. We focus on providing smaller class sizes and keeping swimmers motivated.

“It’s a bit like putting on a show – especially when the children are young it can be difficult to focus for half an hour – so we keep them engaged."

The lessons cost £7 and they take monthly payments rather than longer blocks.

All children get their first lesson for free.

The school will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, continuing throughout school holidays.

Charlotte added:“Many children have missed out on swimming lessons and socialising outside of school, so this is great way to teach them a vital life skill and introduce them to others their own age.

“We also make sure parents and guardians are kept up to date with debriefs following the lessons and reports every three months, so they are aware of what their children are up to.

“We’re very excited about getting started, we’ve got an experienced team of teachers and receptionists who are looking forward to getting started."
