THE cast of popular TV series, Peaky Blinders, descended on Rossendale this week while filming the sixth and final season of the show.

However, a spokesperson for the BBC has now said that filming in the area has finished for now.

A traditional gypsy camp, complete with wagons and other vehicles were set up in Lee Quarry.

Fans flocked to the area to try and catch a glimpse of the cast members and filming in action.

One person said they “enjoyed” catching glimpses of the show.

Some people even managed to spot Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby, filming his scenes.

He has been pictured wearing his iconic tween suit and iconic peaked cap. Other pictures show him ominously holding a gun.

Lee Bradshaw joked that they "asked him to be Cillian Murphy's stunt double but [he] was busy this week."

Local residents made their way to the Bacup area where filming was taking place.

One person remarked: “I think as word got out [that people had found the filming location] and they had to tighten security.

She added: “ But the security and crew were very friendly and always polite.”

Pictures have emerged of the set which feature gypsie wagons, ominous graveyards and the classic vintage cars that often feature in the show.

Yesterday (9 April) Lancashire Fire and Rescue were called out to the set after smoke was seen rising in the area.

A fire engine was spotted on set

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue service said: “A member of the public thought there was a fire but apparently it was just the film crew using a smoke machine.

“One fire engine from Bacup went to do a precautionary check though.”

“We wish to thank the local community for their welcome and generosity as filming continues on Peaky Blinders season six.

“As we do wherever we are, we ask that members of the public please stay away from our closed sets to keep everyone safe and well during this time.”
