People are being asked to remain vigilant after a car was stolen in the middle of the night during a house burglary in Rishton.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning (April 6), the burglary took place on Somerset Road in Rishton and a white Toyota Auris and the keys were stolen.

Between 2am and 3am on the same night, police say that two men were seen trying door handles in the area.

The vehicle and keys have now been recovered however police are now appealing for information to try and identity the suspects.

A spokesperson for the police said: "In the early hours of 6th April, a house burglary has taken place on Somerset Road in Rishton. A white Toyota Auris was stolen with keys which have since been recovered by officers.

"We are appealing for any CCTV in the area in the hope of identifying the suspects involved. Two males were seen in the area between 2am and 3am on 6th trying door handles.

"Please remember to stay vigilant and keep all windows and doors locked. Your help is much appreciated."
