A TOTAL of £8,500 has been given to 10 charities thanks to an East Lancashire community credit union.
Among the good causes receiving funding from Pennine Community Credit Union include: Pendleside Hospice, Georgia Fourie Butterfly Fund, Age UK Burnley and Pendle, Colne Citadel, Depher CIC, Pendle Forest Hawks Junior Football Club and three foodbanks in the communities the credit union operates - Colne Open Door Centre, Nelson Churches in Covenant, Burnley Community Kitchen.
Pendleside Hospice’s Dr Chris Ainsworth shared that their fundraising has been impacted as a result of the pandemic.
He said: “Three-quarters of our annual running costs have to be met by fundraising or donation, so all donations are gratefully received.”
The donation will assist in funding the additional beds needed at the hospice, as well as the delivery of specialist and holistic palliative care which addresses patients individual needs.
