A TRAUMATISED homeowner faces thousands of pounds in repairs after a car crashed into his house for the third time in 16 years.

Tony Parker had been inside his home on the corner of Buncer Lane and Wensley Road in Blackburn on Friday evening when a driver lost control of a black Vauxhall Astra, ploughing into the wall of the property.

Lancashire Telegraph:

It was the third time in 16 years such an incident has taken place on the corner.

Mr Parker, who lives in the property with his wife, said: “We were in the house when we heard a loud bang and the neighbour came over and knocked on the door to get us out as the car was on fire.

“The people who crashed the car were nowhere to be seen. I’m not even sure which direction they had been travelling in – up or down the road.

“We are a bit traumatised by it all.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Pictures taken both shortly after the crash and the next morning show extensive damage to Mr Parker’s garden and the wall around his property.

He went on to say that in the 16 years he has lived there, this was the third time a car had crashed into his home.

He said: “On one occasion we were on holiday when a car crashed into the wall, on another we had our own vehicle written off.

“This time round we are looking at thousands of pounds worth of damage.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Mr Parker has now written to three local councillors urging them to take action to stop dangerous driving on the road.

He said: “There is a speed camera on Buncer lane, but just last week someone was captured driving along there doing over 80mph, so it doesn’t seem to be that much of a deterrent. There is an issue with speeding and dangerous driving and it needs to be addressed.”

In the past Mr Parker has gone through his own insurance to have the damage repaired, but has this time been advised to use the Motor Insurers' Bureau as the car was not insured.
