PEAKY Blinders star Cillian Murphy has been spotted in the North West today for the filming of the sixth series.

The actor, who plays leading man Tommy Shelby in the post First World War gangster series, was caught on camera in his character's typical formal clothes walking outside in between filming.

A 13-second video shared on social media from a building opposite Le Mans Crescent in Bolton captured the Irish star ambling at the location with his hands in his pockets before smiling.

Eager fans gathered around the scene throughout the day, hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.

A perimeter of fences is in place blocking off the set but many waited in place in excitement.

Several were heard asking the security guards if they could have Cillian Murphy's autograph.

One woman shouted: "I just want to see him, I'm 42 so I'm the perfect age for him - just forget the fact I'm married!"

Becky Sharples said: "It is quite exciting, I know they film a lot of stuff in Bolton but it's really great to have our name out there.

"I'm a massive fan of the show, I've watched all the series and we went to the tour that they did in Birmingham about the really Peaky Blinders.

"Somebody said that Cillian Murphy was here and that they saw him - I'm hoping I'll see him to."

Fiona Anderson was also hoping to see Cillian Murphy.

She said: "I think it's really good.

"I absolutely want to see Cillian Murphy, he's the best one.

"This is super good for Bolton and the Crescent is so nice, and it is good for others to see that."

Hannah Blezard expressed her joy at being so close to the star.

She said: "It's so cool, the fact that I can come and look at it.

"It is just dead cool. Finn is my favourite character. I am going to waitin for a bit and see which actors I can spot."
