Stones were thrown at police cars as they attended incidents of anti-social behaviour and drug taking.

On Monday evening, officers from Burnley police were sent to patrol the area around Cambridge Drive and Norfolk Avenue in Padiham following reports from residents about continued anti-social behaviour.

Complaints were made in relation to youths throwing stones at vehicles, abusive language being directed at residents, and drug taking in the street.

Officers attending witnessed first hand one of the incidents as stones were thrown at their vehicle.

On Monday night, community beat manager for Burnley West, PC Chris Mckee said: "Burnley West Neighbourhood Policing Team are currently on patrol around Cambridge Drive and Norfolk Avenue in Padiham after reports from local residents of continued anti-social behaviour.

"Stones being thrown at vehicles, abusive language towards residents and drug taking are amongst the reports made.

"The stones thrown at our police vehicle will confirm one of these reports, thankfully no damage was caused.
