The Grane Road has been closed in both directions due to a crash and a man in his mid-twenties taken to hospital.

At around 6.25am on Tuesday, part of the Grane Road close to the Holden Arms and Jackson Heights Road was closed following the crash.

A spokesperson from the ambulance service said a man in his mid-twenties, who had been riding a motorcycle, had crashed on the Grane Road heading towards Blackburn, just after Jackson Heights Road.

The spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.34am to Elton Road at Blackburn.

"We attended with two ambulances and an advanced paramedic.

"One male, in his mid-twenties, has suffered arm injuries and has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital."

No-one else is believed to have been injured in the crash.

The road has been closed but according to the AA traffic website, traffic is coping well, although people are advised to find an alternative route if possible.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Police are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on Grane Road, Haslingden. Please avoid this area until further notice."

The AA website said: "Road closed and slow traffic due to accident on B6232 Elton Road both ways from B6235 Holcombe Road (Holden Arms) to Jackson Heights Road.

"Traffic is coping well."
