LANCASHIRE County Council has warned bus users that two of its subsidised services in the east of the county will be largely suspended early next week due to the operator having an emergency driver shortage.

They are Service 64 from Burnley to Clitheroe via Padiham and Sabden, and Service 65 from Burnley to Nelson via Padiham and Fence.

These services will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday with the exception of the following journeys: 06.55 Service 65 from Padiham to Nelson; 07.05 Service 65 from Nelson to Padiham; 15.58 Service 64 from Clitheroe Royal Grammar School to Burnley; 17.20 Service 64 from Burnley to Clitheroe; and 18.18 Service 64 from Clitheroe to Burnley

The council has not been able to arrange a replacement provider for these days, however expects to have one in place from Wednesday.

Whilst other bus services are available across many parts of the routes, some areas will not have an alternative available.

Students travelling on Service 64 between Sabden and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School will be able to use Service S66 which operates at similar times.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "We're really sorry for the inconvenience caused by the disruption to these services and are doing our best to have them back in operation as soon as possible."
