A £50,000 digger which was reported stolen has been found in Nelson thanks to tracking devices.

The piece of machinery was stolen from Oxfordshire and within hours of its disappearance it was found over 180 miles away in Nelson.

Police say this quick work was thanks to a tracker and data tag which meant police were able to locate the vehicle.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Team 4 recovered this £50,000 digger from a location Nelson within hours of it being reported stolen from a company in Oxfordshire.

"Thanks to tracker and data tag it was recovered quickly and undamaged and is currently on route to be reunited with its owner.

"Having tracking facilities will greatly increase the chances of your property being recovered quickly and undamaged."
