Two people, including a woman in her 70s, have been taken to hospital after a crash.
Police believe that four vehicles were involved in the crash on Bacup Road, Rawtenstall which happened at about 11.30am on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called to Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, at 11.29am today following reports of a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles.
"Two people have been taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threating."
One of the casualties, a woman in her 70s has suffered a chest injury and both have been taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We have taken two patients to hospital including a woman in her 70s suffering a chest injury."
The road has been closed both ways from A681 Bocholt Way to A682 St Mary's Way, near Rossendale Health Care Centre, while emergency services deal with the crash and heavy traffic has now built up around the scene.
Police have asked for anyone with information to call 101, quoting log 0519 of March 10, 2021.
