A HOUSING association has announced the completion of 133 new homes which it hopes will create "vibrant neighbourhoods."

The homes, built by Calico Homes with Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction and BTP Architects, can be found across four sites in Burnley and Pendle.

Worth a total of £18.3 million, Calico says they are part of the association's wider plans to build housing across East Lancashire.

Calico Homes managing director Mark Beach said: “We’ve invested in these four developments of high quality homes to help improve communities in Burnley.

"It’s been great to have architects BTP on board, they have designed homes that offer something for people of all ages and provide accessible homes for those who need them.”

The sites include Station Road in Padiham where a previously disused piece of land has been transformed into a £9.5 million development of 66 houses, bungalows and apartments.

Meanwhile in Nelson, the £4.3 million Priory Chase scheme had brought 33 new homes the area in partnership with Pendle Borough Council and Homes England.

Elsewhere a £3 million scheme of 24 bungalows at Florence Avenue offers residents a garden, driveway and views of Pendle Hill

Finally at Royal Court in Briercliffe a £1.5 million development of 10 bungalows which have been built with older people in mind has been handed over to residents.

Calico Homes director of development Wendy Malone said: “These developments are part of our wider aim of addressing the pressing need in our communities for affordable housing and to create vibrant neighbourhoods.

"It’s people who make houses homes, so it’s great to see tenants enjoying an improved quality of life in these new properties.”

Meanwhile all three organisations hope other new developments across East Lancashire will follow.

BTP Architects director Manny Atkinson said: “At BTP we believe in design focused on sustainability and quality to ensure homes are future-proof as well as a pleasure to live in. It’s great to see these four developments we’ve worked on with Calico Homes now being enjoyed by tenants.”
