A CALL has been put out to find two passing bin men who helped to pull a sheep out of a stream.

Craig Dodding, of Rhoden Farm Cattery in Oswaldtwistle, along with neighbour Rob Moss were trying to save the farm animal when they were joined by two bin men who helped finish off the rescue, pulling the sheep up the embankment.

They would like to track down the bin men to thank them for their assistance.

Craig said: “They jumped out of the wagon and through the fence. It wasn’t easy to get through the fence into the field.

“Between the four of us we got it up the embankment and to safety but before me and Rob were struggling on our own to do it.

“They spotted us as they came down our lane to empty the bins and we were still there so they stopped and helped which was good of them.”

Craig spotted the sheep trapped under a branch in the stream on Friday morning.

As an animal lover and after having rescued a sheep from a similar situation some years earlier, Craig jumped into action to begin rescuing the sheep and called his friend Rob.

Craig and Rob managed to free the sheep from the branch but it was struggling to move after having had its legs in the cold stream for some time.

Rob and Craig then began to pull the sheep to freedom up the embankment however after struggling on several attempts, the pair were joined by two passing bin men who helped to finally pull the sheep to freedom.

Craig added: “It should be fine, it was trying to get up by the end. When you look after animals for a living you look out for them all the time.”

Rob called a nearby farm who sent someone to collect the sheep.
