OFFICERS dealt with more than 200 coronavirus-related incidents in one day over the weekend.

The country is just a week away from certain elements of lockdown being lifted, but officers in Lancashire had one of their busiest ever days on Saturday after 281 incidents related to covid-19 breaches were dealt with.

One of Lancashire’s top police officers said that Saturday was one of the busiest days yet for people breaking the rules.

DCC Terry Woods said: “We’re all looking forward to releasing lockdown, but to pass each stage we all need to keep our discipline and abide by the guidance.

“In just 24hrs Saturday Lancashire Police dealt with 281 COVID incidents, one of our highest 24hr periods. Please folks let’s keep doing it for Lancashire.”

The weekend before last officers attended to 544 incidents between Friday and Sunday night, up from 360 the weekend before.

Among many other people to be fined was a pub landlord from Nelson who was busted after they were found serving customers.

In Blackburn another man was fined after it was established that he had failed to self-isolate after returning from abroad.
