KING Street in Blackburn was closed earlier today as police undertook further investigations into last year's fatal shooting of Aya Hachem.

The shooting took place on Sunday May 17 2020 when 19-year-old student Aya Hachem was shot from a moving car on King Street in an alleged botched drive-by shooting in which she was not the intended target, while walking home from the supermarket.

Today police once again closed the road near to the Lidl supermarket as part of their investigation, which eye witnesses believe appear to have included filming a reconstruction of the events of that day, before reopening it again later in the afternoon.

A police spokesperson said: "The activities in the area are part of our inquiries.

"We apologise to anyone who is inconvenienced."

The spokesperson was not able to confirm whether or not the activities included the filming of a reconstruction, however they confirmed that officers have concluded their tasks and that the road has since been reopened.

The police investigation into the death of Ms Hachem has been ongoing since last May.
