TWO men who attempted to evade police before being found with a knife and Class A and B drugs have been arrested.

Burnley police saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in Daneshouse which attempted to evade officers.

Police managed to detain the men who then became violent toward the officer, with one of the males being found to be in possession of a knife.

Upon their arrest, police also found £1000 in cash in the vehicle as well as Class A and B drugs.

A spokesperson for the police said: “An officer had sighted a vehicle acting suspiciously in the Daneshouse area of Burnley.

“The vehicle attempted to evade police however, was forced to come to a stop after driving down a dead end. Two males in the vehicle were seen to frantically conceal items on their person.

“On being detained the males have become violent towards the officer. On being arrested one of the males has been found in possession of a knife.

“Over £1000 in cash was also seized from the vehicle along with quantities of Class A and B drugs.

“Two males were arrested for possession of a bladed article, possession with intent to supply class A and B, Assault a constable and resist arrest.

“They too await interview in Greenbank Custody.

“We will continue to target offenders who cause considerable harm to our community and will not tolerate this kind of criminality taking place on our streets.”
