A former nightclub, renowned for its revolving dancefloor, has been transformed into high-end luxury apartments.

The £5m development has been undertaken by TSS Properties, who have turned the six-storey Brown's nightclub building in Preston into 24 luxurious living spaces, available to rent from June this year.

The ground floor of Buckingham House in Glover's Court, opened as Browns Cafe Bar in 1998, before the first floor became Truth nightclub in 2003.

And now, the four floors above the legendary music venue have been transformed, with Truth and Browns being kept as offices.

Preston-based TSS previously completed a similar £2.5m development of high-end apartments in the former Booths cafe and warehouse building in Glover's Court, called City Bridge.

And this new development, which is set to be finished in May, comes off the back of the success of City Bridge.

Lancashire Telegraph:

With reports suggesting the growth of areas like Manchester and London have pushed people to smaller cities like Preston, developments like this mean people are able to live in similar surroundings but for a lot less cost.

In the last few years, Preston has seen numerous city centre apartments spring-up, with a development set to open in Ormskirk Street, close to the bus station, this summer.

The old Avenham Street car park has also recently had plans approved, allowing for 294 apartments to be built on the site.

The new developments are part of Preston City Council's City Living Strategy, which aims to create more than 1,700 new living spaces in the city centre to increase footfall and rejuvenate the high street, with developers estimating Preston as being around 10 years behind Manchester in terms of growing city living standards.

The 24 residential units in Buckingham House are one and two bedrooms and range from 750 sq ft up to 1,100 sq ft.
