A 29-year-old man has been charged with indecent exposure after he allegedly began touching himself inappropriately following a break-in at a house.
Police were called around 1.35am on Monday to a break-in on New Lane.
It is believed a man entered a house on the street before he was disturbed and left the building.
Allegedly he then began touching himself inappropriately outside the Burscough property.
Earlier this week, detectives arrested a man on suspicion of the offence, and on Thursday 29-year-old Michael Shaw, of no fixed address, was charged with two offences of exposure and three offences of knowingly trespassing on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Detectives investigating an indecent exposure offence in Burscough have charged a man.
"We were called around 1.35am on Monday to reports of a break-in at an address on New Lane where a man entered an address before being disturbed.
"It was later alleged he had been seen touching himself inappropriately outside the address.
"Following enquiries police arrested a man on Tuesday in connection with the investigation.
"Michael Shaw, 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with two offences of exposure and three offences of knowingly trespassing on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
"He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court today on Thursday (today).
