CHURCH and Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club has been helping children with online learning during lockdown.

When local primary schools realised that a lack of sufficient technology was preventing some schoolchildren from being able to learn remotely, the generous club stepped in to offer support.

The club purchased 110 Kindle Fire tablets that vulnerable children at five local primary schools, including Hippings Methodist Primary School, could use to complete their schoolwork.

The tablets also help them keep in touch with their friends.

Richard Wallwork, Community chair said “We found there was a desperate need for these children to have this equipment so they could have access to online learning, as well as being able to see their friends, especially where children’s mental health is paramount.

“We also received sponsorship from various sources, for which we were very thankful.”
