Following Boris Johnson's announcement on Monday, there has been much speculation as to when people in East Lancashire will be able to meet up with family, friends and loved ones.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that while it is 'some time off', he hopes that people will be able to hug friends and family from May 17.

However, there are ways in which you can begin seeing friends and family, much sooner than May 17.

From March 8 people can leave home, with their household or support bubble, or with one other person outside their household for recreation outdoors such as a coffee in the park or a picnic, or a walk.

From March 29 you will be able to meet outdoors with six people or two households - meaning seeing groups of friends will be possible.

These outdoor meet-ups includes in private gardens. So providing the weather is nice, an Easter weekend BBQ could be on the cards for you and another household in your back garden

Lancashire Telegraph:

Outdoor sports facilities, such as tennis and basketball courts, will be allowed to reopen, and people can take part in formally organised outdoor sports - meaning you can go and play tennis, golf or football with a friend.

The next time more restrictions will be eased (April 12), you will be able to go to the gym with a friend, and will also be able to gather with six people in a pub beer garden or cafe terrace for food and drinks.

And from May 17, providing the data allows, most social contact rules will be lifted - although outdoor and indoor gatherings of more than 30 people will remain illegal.

Outdoor performances such as outdoor cinemas, outdoor theatres and outdoor cinemas can reopen.

Indoors, the rule of six or two households will apply - although the Government will keep under review whether it is safe to increase this.

This means you'll be able to visit family and stay overnight.

By June 21, it is hoped all legal limits will be lifted, which means meeting in much larger groups, going to nightclubs with friends, and attending weddings without needing to socially distance could be on the cards.
