A MAN released from prison on Thursday was back behind bars on Friday.
Moazam Ali appeared before Blackburn magistrates to answer a shoplifting charge dating back to October.
After hearing the offence had been committed just days after Ali had been made subject to a suspended prison sentence, Deputy District Judge Roger Lowe said only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
"Your record is appalling," he told the defendant.
Ali, 33, of Leyland Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to stealing aftershave worth £40 from TK Max. He was jailed for four weeks for the offence and a further eight weeks for breach of the suspended sentence.
