THERE were 268 new coronavirus cases in Blackburn with Darwen in a seven day period according to latest figures.

That was a decrease of 93 cases on the previous period up until February 11.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

The borough of Blackburn with Darwen has a new infection rate 179 per 100,000 which is down from 241.2 from the previous seven days..

Of the 315 local areas in England, 43 (14%) have seen a rise in case rates, 267 (85%) have seen a fall and five are unchanged.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency based on Public Health England data published on February 22 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
