The wife of a man accused of the murder of a doctor and her daughter has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with perverting the course of justice.
Rabia Fatima Shahbaz, 44, of Ribble Avenue, Burnley, was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court charged with purposely giving false information to police in a statement in order to mislead a double murder investigation which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice. She will appear before the Crown Court on March 22.
A condition of bail which prohibited contact with her husband was removed and the only remaining condition is one of residence.
Dr Mir Sacharvi and her 14 year old daughter, Via Mangrio, were found dead in their fire and smoke damaged home in Reedley on October 1.
A post mortem found Dr Sacharvi, a junior doctor with Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Trust, died as a result of pressure to her neck and suffered an assault.
No cause of death was established for her daughter.
Shabaz Khan, 51, denied two counts of murder and arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered. He is due to stand trial in June.
