A MAN who went to see his wife on the day their divorce was finalised slashed the tyres on her car with a knife.
Blackburn magistrates heard an argument developed and Michael Hawley took out his frustration on the car.
Hawley, 36, of Billinge View, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to four tyres worth £320 and possessing a knife in a public place. He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced after the court was told the offences put him in breach of a Crown Court suspended sentence.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had mental health issues and the break-down of his marriage had a significant impact on him.
"He attended at her house to discuss things but an argument developed," said Mr Taylor.
"He vented his frustration by taking a knife from the kitchen and damaging the tyres."
