Another three coronavirus related deaths have been registered by East Lancashire hospitals over the last 24 hours. 

The newest figures, released by NHS England on Wednesday afternoon, show that since the start of the pandemic, a total of 960 people have lost their lives at hospitals within the trust.

Elsewhere in the county, eight additional deaths have been announced since figures were last updated on Tuesday, with two of those reported in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, four in Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, and two in Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals. 

No new Covid-related deaths were registered at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.

Therefore the total number of new deaths registered across Lancashire in the last 24 hours is 11.

The total number of Covid-related deaths reported at each of Lancashire's hospital trusts, since the pandemic began, are as follows:

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals: 719

East Lancashire Hospitals Trust: 960

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals: 650

Southport and Ormskirk Teaching Hospitals: 384

University of Morecambe Bay: 546

The death toll across the county now stands at 3,259.

The NHS data contains information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for Covid-19 in the 28 days before they died, or where Covod-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
