THE family of a man who died following a collision in Accrington have today paid tribute to him.

Dennis Guilfoyle, 85, from Great Harwood, sadly died on Sunday February 14.

His family have now released a tribute to the devoted family man.

In a statement they said: “Dennis a was loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be sorely missed.

“We want to thank everyone who has been in touch for their kind words and messages.

“He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

Police had been called around 9am on February 10 to a report a Jaguar car had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian at the junction of Eastgate and Burnley Road.

The pedestrian, Mr Guilfoyle, suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but sadly later died.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Sergeant Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Mr Guilfoyle’s family at this time.

“We continue to appeal for information and urge any witnesses, who saw what happened and have yet to speak to police, to come forward.”
